Another bout of periodic depression.  No colour, no nothing but boring, mundane day to day existence.  Then the dreams fire up again.  Tentative specks of potential are revealed at first, followed by a period of intense, colour filled dreams that manifest every night and reveal themselves just before waking up. The hazy zone is always a fertile space.  Isolation.  Germination.  Colour.  Form.  Texture.  Joy.  Synapses.  Day upon day is lost in the workroom as draped sequences of hand dyed Merino are considered, re-imagined and collated into a meaningful refraction of my reality.  As the days melt away, so does the month and I have to often look at the calendar for reference.  Where have the days gone?   The feltwork is laboriously made and set aside for the “real” work of embroidery which is just another means of exploring the personal.  Embroidery is narrative upon narrative upon the colourful felt canvas; much like life, if one only knows where to look in the first instance.  Inscribe something today.

Hand dyed Merino, hand made felt, freeform embroidery, bead embroidery, felted embellishments.  Canvas size:  25 x 20 cms. Actual felt art measures approximately 24 x 14 cms.

Finished felt painting has been mounted on black, sealed canvas with D-rings and wire for ease of hanging.  This painting is slated for an art exhibition later this year, if it does not sell in the meantime via this website.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

This work has been treated with UV fabric protectant.  Do not hang this work in a bright or sunny room.  Do not hang this work in a damp environment.  To clean, simply spray with canned air in short bursts to remove any surface dust.  A gentle flick with a feather duster on occasion will assist to keep this work dust free if you do not have canned air.  Do not handle the felt work itself.
